University of Gwadar Reviews Academic and Administrative Affairs; Approves Online Classes and Cost-Reduction Measures.

An important meeting was held at the University of Gwadar under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, during which the academic and administrative affairs of the university were reviewed in detail. The meeting was attended by Registrar Dr. Dolat Khan, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Mehr, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr. Jan Muhammad, Dean Faculty of Sciences Dr. Mohibullah, Chairpersons of various academic departments, and responsible officials from administrative sections. During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor briefed the participants on the university’s policy in light of the directives issued by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, and the Higher Education Department of Balochistan, in the context of the ongoing emergency situation in the country. He emphasized that, given the current circumstances, it is essential to adopt modern tools and alternative mechanisms to continue academic activities online so that students’ learning process remains uninterrupted.
On this occasion, it was decided that, in accordance with the directives of the federal and provincial governments, all ongoing teaching classes at the University of Gwadar will immediately be shifted to online mode. The aim of this step is to keep students continuously engaged in academic activities while ensuring precautionary measures in line with the prevailing situation. Furthermore, the meeting agreed on adopting a balanced working system for faculty and administrative staff. Under this arrangement, 50 percent of the staff will perform their duties online from home, while the remaining staff will continue to work on campus to carry out essential responsibilities. The meeting also conducted a detailed review of the university’s financial matters. Considering the current emergency conditions, several important decisions were taken to reduce institutional expenditures. Participants agreed that necessary cuts would be made in routine operational expenses so that financial resources could be utilized more efficiently and effectively.
Similarly, significant measures were approved to reduce fuel consumption. It was decided that fuel expenses for university vehicles will be reduced by up to 50 percent, while half of the university’s vehicles will be temporarily taken off the road. According to the administration, these measures aim to prevent the wastage of resources and further strengthen the institution’s financial discipline.
The meeting also held a detailed discussion regarding the First Convocation 2026 of the University of Gwadar. In this regard, arrangements for holding the first convocation after Eid-ul-Fitr, in light of the directives of the Governor of Balochistan and Chancellor of the University of Gwadar, were reviewed. Convocation Convener and Controller of Examinations Dr. Rahim Mehr informed the participants that every possible effort will be made to make the first convocation of the University of Gwadar historic and memorable, so that the ceremony becomes an important milestone for the people of Gwadar, students, faculty members, and the university. At the conclusion of the meeting, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir thanked all participants and expressed hope that the university’s faculty and administrative staff would continue to work with cooperation and responsibility to further improve the institution’s development and academic standards. He stated that only through collective efforts and wise decisions can the university continue to move forward on the path of progress.
