Third Board of Studies Meeting of the Department of English Held at the University of Gwadar.

The University of Gwadar convened the Third Board of Studies meeting of the Department of English on 27th February 2026 at the conference hall of the Pak China Technical & Vocational Institute (PCT&VI). University of Gwadar. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Jan Mohammad, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Commerce, and Social Sciences. Participants included Mr. Muhammad Farooq, Chairperson, Department of English; Dr. Mubarak Lashari, Associate Professor, Department of English, University of Sindh, and Dr. Waseem Malik, Associate Professor, Department of English, University of Sindh (who participated virtually). Mr. Mubarak Ali, a faculty member of the English Department, was present to contribute to the proceedings.
The Chairperson presented agenda items focusing on the revision and modernization of the BS English curriculum in alignment with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Undergraduate Policy 2025. The meeting built upon the recommendations of the Second Board of Studies and aimed to ensure compliance with updated national academic standards.
A key item on the agenda was the formal review and adoption of the Department’s revised Vision and Mission statements. After thorough deliberation, the Board unanimously approved the refined statements, reaffirming the department’s commitment to academic excellence, research development, linguistic proficiency, and technological integration.
The Board extensively discussed the restructuring of the BS English program in accordance with HEC’s revised framework. Emphasis was placed on maintaining a balanced distribution between General Education, Major, and interdisciplinary components to ensure both depth and breadth in students’ academic training. The restructuring was viewed as essential for strengthening academic rigor, promoting research culture, and enhancing graduate employability at national and international levels. In compliance with HEC directives, the Board also approved the inclusion of a mandatory course on Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, effective from Fall 2026.
The meeting further reviewed semester-wise course distribution and endorsed the inclusion of innovative components such as a Capstone Project and structured internship guidelines to enhance practical exposure and industry linkage. The session concluded with a shared understanding that the approved revisions will significantly strengthen the academic profile of the Department of English and align it with contemporary educational demands. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
