The University of Gwadar held the second Board of Studies meeting for the English Department on 25th April 2025 at the conference hall of the Pak China Technical & Vocational Institute (PCT&VI). University of Gwadar. Prof. Dr. Jan Mohammad, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Commerce, and Social Sciences, chaired the meeting. Participants included the Registrar, Mr. Dolat Khan, Dr. Mubarak Lashari, Associate Professor of English at the University of Sindh, Dr. Waseem Malik, Associate Professor of English at the University of Sindh, Mr. Muhammad Farooq, Chairperson of the English Department, and Mubarak Ali, Lecturer of the English Department UG. The Chairperson of the English Department presented agenda items related to curriculum reforms, aligned with the new Undergraduate Education Framework (HEC Policy 2023) by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The discussion thoroughly addressed the process of selecting courses in the English Department, concentrating on three main areas: core, interdisciplinary, and general education. The members highlighted the value of integrating interdisciplinary and general courses to expand students' intellectual horizons and support a more well-rounded academic experience. The discussion also focused on defining the core courses necessary for a thorough grounding in English studies, aimed at building a solid academic base for all students. At the same time, the inclusion of general education courses was considered offering flexibility and address a range of academic interests. Faculty members engaged in constructive dialogue to design a balanced and cohesive curriculum aligned with the department’s academic objectives.
