University of Gwadar Hosts Seminar on “The Role of Teachers in Ensuring Quality Education” to Mark World Teachers’ Day

The Department of Education, University of Gwadar, in collaboration with the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), organized a seminar titled “The Role of Teachers in Ensuring Quality Education.” The event was held in connection with World Teachers’ Day to highlight the vital role of teachers as the backbone of educational quality and institutional development.
The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by welcome remarks from Prof. Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Mehr, Controller of Examinations UG, who emphasized that teachers are the foundation of any educational system, and their professional competence and integrity determine the nation's future.
The Chief Guest, Prof Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Gwadar, delivered a keynote address on “The Transformative Role of Teachers in Higher Education.” He noted that a teacher is not merely a source of knowledge but an agent of change who inspires students to think critically, understand deeply, and contribute meaningfully to society’s development.
During the seminar, the District Education Officer Female. Madam Balqees Suleman spoke on the importance of strengthening schools through teacher training and support, emphasizing that professional development and mentorship are key to building strong educational institutions.
Mr. Jamil Qasim, President of the Gwadar Private Schools Association, discussed “The Evolving Role of Teachers in Promoting Quality Education in Private Institutions,” stressing that to enhance the quality of education, teachers must be equipped with modern pedagogical methods and practical training.
A panel discussion titled “The Central Role of Teachers in Educational Administration and Policy Implementation” featured Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Dr. Jan Muhammad, Educationist and Deputy DEO Gwadar Abdul Wahab Majeed, Principal of Government Degree College Gwadar Naseer Ahmed, and Educationist and President of RCDC Nasir Raheem Sohrabi as speakers. The panelists underscored that the success of educational policies depends on the active inclusion of teachers in administrative and decision-making processes.
In his concluding remarks, Vice Chancellor of the University of Gwadar, Prof Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, stated that teachers play a central role in shaping the intellectual, moral, and ethical fabric of a nation. He remarked that a teacher not only imparts knowledge but also builds character, provides guidance, and lays the foundation for a brighter future. He added that it is through teachers’ dedication, sacrifice, and sincerity that societies achieve awareness, progress, and peace.
He further affirmed that the University of Gwadar values and appreciates the contributions of its teachers and remains committed to providing them with a conducive environment for teaching and research. The Vice Chancellor extended his heartfelt tribute to all teachers and expressed his firm resolve to continue advancing the University’s mission of education, research, and learning under their guidance.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rabia Aslam, followed by the presentation of shields and souvenirs to the distinguished guests.
