Board of Studies Approves Landmark Reforms in BS Chemistry Program at University of Gwadar.

The Board of Studies (BoS) of the Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute (PCTVI), University of Gwadar, has approved a series of groundbreaking reforms to modernize the BS Chemistry program. Chaired by Dean Faculty of Science Engineering & Technology Dr. Mohib Ullah, the meeting endorsed a revised curriculum aligned with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) guidelines, designed to prepare graduates for emerging opportunities in science and industry.
The new syllabus introduces specialized and future-oriented courses, including Artificial Intelligence for Chemistry, Agricultural Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Marine Chemistry, and other innovative modules. These additions aim to enhance students’ employability by equipping them with advanced knowledge and practical skills relevant to today’s evolving job market.
Key updates also include the launch of bridging semester courses, restructured schedules, and the inclusion of interdisciplinary subjects to broaden academic exposure. Collectively, these reforms will enable students to excel in diverse fields such as pharmaceuticals, agriculture, marine sciences, and environmental chemistry, while contributing to the region’s socio-economic growth.
The session brought together leading academics and experts, including Mr. Waseem Hameed, Chairperson, Department of Chemistry, University of Gwadar; Dr. Abdullah, Assistant Professor, University of Gwadar; and Ms. Sangeen Waleed, Lecturer, University of Gwadar. Joining online, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam of Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences provided expert feedback that played a vital role in shaping the final curriculum.
Participants further stressed the importance of upgrading laboratory facilities and incorporating computational chemistry and AI-driven research training, ensuring that students are fully prepared to meet global scientific and industrial challenges.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continuous innovation, aligning academic programs with HEC standards and the dynamic needs of higher education, industry, and society.
