The seventh meeting of the Academic Council of the University of Gwadar was held at the conference room of the CPEC Study Center, Pakistan-China Technical and Vocational Institute, University of Gwadar. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, chaired the meeting. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ahmad, Registrar Dolat Khan, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Mehr, Dean Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Dr. Mohibullah, and other faculty members attended the meeting.

The meeting addressed key educational and policy matters aimed at enhancing academic standards and improving institutional development at the university.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Vice Chancellor spoke about the university's performance over the past three years. He emphasized that the establishment of the university in a strategically important city like Gwadar and its exemplary performance in such a short period had been made possible due to the collaboration of the university's administration, faculty, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad, the Governor’s Secretariat, and the Provincial Higher Education and Finance Department. As a result, the university has achieved many of its goals.

The meeting also reviewed the minutes of the sixth meeting of the Academic Council and the implementation report of decisions made in the previous meeting. The council reaffirmed its commitment to continuous improvement and further enhancement. Among the key decisions taken in the meeting, the council approved the "Institutional Affiliation Policy 2024" of the Higher Education Commission. This policy is aimed at strengthening the university’s relations with other educational institutions and providing a framework to improve academic standards.

The council also approved the inclusion of a Pakistan Studies course in the undergraduate degree programs approved by HEC, to expand the curriculum and promote Pakistan studies. Additionally, the meeting discussed the HEC's Graduate Policy 2023. The council also approved the launch of MS degree courses in subjects like Management Sciences, Chemistry, and Education, provided they meet HEC’s standards. These programs are designed to meet the growing demand for higher education in the region, particularly in Gwadar, a commercial and business hub, and to produce a highly skilled workforce.

The council confirmed the HEC-approved courses in these subjects, which had already been approved by the respective Boards of Studies. Furthermore, the council approved the establishment of a Zoology department at the Maritime Affairs and Marine Sciences Center of the university, along with specialized Fisheries courses. This decision reflects the university's commitment to meeting the specific needs related to Gwadar's coastal and marine life.

In addition, members of the Faculty Council and Advance Research Board were selected among the faculty to further expand the research culture at the university.

At the end of the meeting, the Vice Chancellor commended the commitment of the council members and expressed hope that these decisions would contribute to enhancing the university’s academic standards and its social impact.
